Helix, based in New York City, manufactures and sells high end custom beds. The vast majority of beds sold online are manufactured to be one-size-fits-all and for that reason, Helix has attracted a cult following online for those who want a little more tailored approach to their mattress.

Pros

  • Luxurious pillow top
  • Attractive design
  • Zoned lumbar support

Cons

  • A little bit spendy
  • Could be firmer for back and stomach sleepers

Comfort and Firmness

The Helix Midnight Luxe is about a 5.0-5.5 on the scale above, or medium firmness.

The Luxe version of each of the beds that Helix offers has about 2″ of additional material and a pillow top, both contributing to a very comfortable nights rest.

Additionally, the Midnight Luxe has zoned lumbar support, which means that there are differently calibrated pocket coils running through the center of the mattress. This helps protect against any sag, or back discomfort for back and stomach sleepers.

Cooling and Sleep Temperature

The Midnight Luxe has an ultra-breathable cover to help keep you cool through the night.

Layers and Construction

The Midnight Luxe is American Made and certified CertiPUR-US.

The layers are as follows:

  1. Breathable Premium Pillow Top Cover
  2. Gel Visco Support Layer
  3. Memory Plus Foam Support Layer
  4. High-Grade Polyfoam Transition Layer
  5. Zoned Body Shape Layer (1,000 individually wrapped coils)
  6. DuraDense Base Foam Layer

Sizes and Dimensions

Size Dimensions
Twin 38" x 75"
Twin XL 38" x 80"
Full 54" x 75"
Queen 60" x 80"
King 76" x 80"
Cali King 72" x 84"

The Helix Midnight Luxe is 14″ tall. It works fine with all standard foundations, adjustable bases, and box springs.

Customer Service

Helix offers these customer service options:

  • Live Chat (Monday through Friday 10am-6pm ET)
  • Phone (though you must email or chat them to schedule a callback)
  • Email
  • In store visits (need to be booked online and take place in New York).

Delivery

All Helix mattresses are made to order, meaning they are not sitting around in a warehouse ready to ship, but rather, they are built after you order. Helix says that delivery typically takes 6-10 business days. It’s a little on the slower side, but we find it completely acceptable due to the fact that they’re custom made to order.

Trial, Warranty, Returns, and Exchanges

The Helix Luxe beds have a longer warranty than their non-luxe counterparts.

  • 15 Year Warranty
  • 100 Night Sleep Trial

Helix wants you to try the mattress out for at least 30 nights before initiating a refund. This may seem strange at first, but several other companies do this as well. After 30 days have passed, you can initiate a 100% money back refund through any of the customer support options.
